Children (Other) by Joyleaf
Evolution, the long process of births and deaths, sexual selection, trial and error, has produced me, a creature to whom thoughts are children and infants are a distant thought. For now, I let my thought-children mature. They become the mid-wives that will someday welcome my babies and their dreams. They become the foundations of the loving home I am building. They are still young, as I am, and they are not yet ready for these tasks. I will raise one set of children at a time, and give both the love and warmth they need to grow. The long process of trial and error, sexual choice, has given me the chance to choose.

Up the ladder: My girl
