For James Thomson(1834-1882):an Epitaph (Free verse) by vulcan
Here lies he whose mysterious might Stones'silent prophecy well knew; Who in perpetual srife with Death and Blight Left for the unhappy few And for whomever insomnia is a matter of course A rueful realm there forever to roam A realm overshadowed by shades,"The City of Dreadful Night."

Up the ladder: The queen of heat
Down the ladder: Ex In Bonds

I love 'The City of Dreadful Night' - this picks up the tone nicely and also describes the poor man's tortured life. A lot of your work refers to other poets, is this part of a deliberate project?

I'm glad you like that poem too.a part of it is conscious!I feel I owe some poets (one of them B.V)a good deal.though they cannot hear I can't refrain saying!

Yes it's important to pay your respects I think. Everyone on here has their pet idol-Anne Sexton is very popular,Frass is mad on Dylan Thomas and mine is Edward Thomas. You go far and wide for your influences.
