Purple Patches (Free verse) by skaskowski
Have I gone insane? have I lost my head? the streetlight was off-white, I saw red instead. Through the Fog of a stupor I stooped low And slurred "Oh, I'd rather you dead than asleep in my head." A blue dismal memory as you threw yourself into me. Flashes of pain, purple patches from punches. Bloodshot eyes and poison ivy. A red itchy memory as I flew through air. Flashes of light left marks in my eyes as I kicked you goodbye.

Up the ladder: It's about truckin'
Down the ladder: unheeded

light and whimsical in spite of the violent images.
