kerosene lantern (Free verse) by Freethinker1602
The sun went down and I was left in twilight the sun went down and I was all alone when the sun went down I traveled a path much less trampled and world weary, that was me to the right and left there were dim globes of light not shining too bright they kept me company but I did not rest I traveled on on and on one foot after the last on and on the sun was down, I was alone When the sun went down, I just kept going Then there was a bright light it shined for me it brought me closer, drew me in there was a man holding a lantern he showed me what's right I could have been afraid and strayed but decided to follow now the sun comes up and I am not alone I have a new best friend through the dark he will guide me and we've stopped to rest and where we stopped to rest it is where we will pour a foundation we won't just rest we will build it won't just be a cabin but a place we call home we will build a home

Up the ladder: Helmand's prisoners
Down the ladder: My Toes
