Reaper's Chain (Free verse) by Ladybama9425
Crossing Bridges and forging roads She went looking for respite The lock and chain weighting her steps The clanging a resounding reminder of fate A chance to run, a chance to breathe A folly to hope, a folly to dream. Chained to fate Sealed to doom Closed from faith Silenced to dream The dark skies strung with amber lights Gave birth to tears of fear and strife No answers to questions long asked No relief from the weighty choices long past Fragile as the worm’s porcelain strand Alone on the moor she stands Helpless hands harbor mischief No longer to bare such a load Traveling so far along such a desolate road She spews from her veins a desperate verse “Save me Oh God, steal from me this curse!” Chained to fate Sealed to doom Closed from faith Silenced to dream Lands of freedom, chains gone away Safe from the darkness so long afraid Graced with freedom by the Reaper from which she ran Ironic Fate how fickle thy hand
