Empty Eyes (Prose Poem) by Rachelle Egan
I cried last night for those who died,
The sockets of their eyes are gaping wide,
And their sad fate,
A testimony to their sad state.
The empty eyes are haunting me,
foreign, distant, hungrily.
They are hungry for the life,
Taken from them by this strife,
This genocide of Rwanda.
