Empty Eyes (Prose Poem) by Rachelle Egan
I cried last night for those who died, The sockets of their eyes are gaping wide, And their sad fate, A testimony to their sad state. The empty eyes are haunting me, foreign, distant, hungrily. They are hungry for the life, Taken from them by this strife, This genocide of Rwanda.

The rhymes are forced. Rwanda deserves better.
