Egg Roll (Free verse) by D. $ Fontera
An egg rolls around the corner Catching light waves from moonshine Harps strum string theories They make eyes wander mightily Floods of people blast their air horns Like some particularly unhappy voices All hour long lives lived like gnats Deceiving the state of existence White liars try morbid tricks As ticks tock and muddy veins do business Baby back ribbons hold infants in place Of a parent dreamscape, which dazzles them The swine bellow hello and snort courage While clouds cover the noses of airplanes Cannons sift death outward into channels Those spaces that words leap across You cough at it and all in it moves The egg rolls back and your wake is shadows

Up the ladder: let me know
Down the ladder: The Observatory
