You Can Count On Friends (Free verse) by Ojiboch
I've got a close friend named near He likes to stick close and keep me from fear Because of him I can live life to its best Knowing my friend near will never stop nor rest When I need help he's always there, ready to protect me with the most loving care He likes to stay close, this he and I know And he has no fear he will never show I can count on him in my life to always be near Yet to this day he has yet to appear...

Up the ladder: war
Down the ladder: My Id and I

Change it around, fer gawd's sake: make your best friend be fear. Then write a poem about that. It could even be amusing.

My friend "near" isn't a real friend. This poem is about the comfort you have with close friends when they are near you. By me talking about "near" never appearing, it implies I have no close friends or no one can ever understand me.
