Blue (Free verse) by Chasz Misleading
I looked at a blue flower today I don’t know the type, I’m not good at that It seemed like my first time Maybe it was… Though I’ve passed by them before This time one spoke to me HE spoke to me He told me he was dying He told me people have passed by, countless times whilst showing his most sincere grandeur and looked to the stop sign instead; or their friends, or their watch, or their day He dropped a petal. Before that I didn’t know flowers could willingly do that He said “yes” He told me he had no use He dropped a few more They fell to my shoe, orange like a tiger I bent my head over to him, scooting toward him a few steps to reach I kissed his innermost self And I whispered and told him, “you have use, you’re beautiful to me” He stopped wilting to hear me out. I told him I was sorry. I told him, even though I only noticed him now I was glad because it made it so much more special. I told him how much he added beauty; to my street, to my neighborhood, to my world I told him other people thought he was beautiful too But were too afraid to say it I told him I was afraid to say it before And he gave me a look, like he knew I meant what I said but was shocked, shocked that I said it, or even…confessed He stopped wilting He gazed off to Nowhereland I knew that look… Our conversation ended. More flowers grew after that. They strew all over I found Mary then, my best friend to eternity And the world found blue.
