Oh Well II (Free verse) by RWAndersen
This rhyme is for my mother, One loved unlike any other. Oh well, what the hell, This ain't all I've got to tell. Curves will come and some will hurt, My kids, get up, wash off the dirt. Oh well, play nice games, Mind the rules, you can't be blamed. A first step, a skip, a run, Closed her eyes at what I thought fun. Oh well, came the night, Dressed the wounds, made it all right. As I say, not as I do, One of so many broken rules. Oh well, live and learn, Resulting gray our concern. Chose a trail that's long and straight, Keep in mind, be good, try for great. Oh well, not too sad, Were taught to work, that ain't bad. Both can say we're parents proud, We no longer have to get loud. Oh well, we can tell, Younger ones bout when we fell. Now I know the empty nest, Hope and worry, the wish for rest. Oh well, loved the dance Brave the voice and tall the stance.

Up the ladder: Oh Well
Down the ladder: this is us
