Heartburn (Free verse) by MacFrantic
I left my heart upon a spire Lit beneath the smallest fire Waited while it blackened, turning Heart aflame with want and yearning I couldn’t bear the searing heat And burn my hands to feel its beat Every day my eyes grew wanting In my dreams my heart was haunting Suddenly, I saw you, distant Cross my path for but an instant Take my heart and hold it near Feel the warmth and know it dear You placed my heart inside my chest Belonging where it felt Love best Then I took your hand and kissed The lips which give my heart such bliss

Up the ladder: Just silence last here
Down the ladder: Read me
