Golden Sands (Free verse) by Hadasl
I see the world, as the stars and sun and moon shine upon my many lands and though I'll always long for home, my heart belongs with foreign sands Beneath the bright Orion's Belt, I hear the wind and feel the sea golden sands course through my fingers as another calls to me The salt from the sea and sanguine paprika aplenty mingle with the merchants of the Nile's faithful gift the pyramids in silence stand as proud archaic sentries as the Nile flows below me, perpetual and swift The merry Cancun sun alights the valley of the Maya, mariachies sing and dance, lighting up the street the zephyr brings along with it the smell of ripe papaya as flowers bloom and colors show, dancing with the heat Now my hands are lined, my hair is gray to cross the sea I dream away The rain has fallen, so have our tears white sands, they steal my golden years Thus I wheel myself to the archaic sea, to reacquaint with some old friends, beneath the shining stars, it comes to me that heaven's made of golden sands

Too etherial, I think, to make the jump from earthly sand to heavenly sand without some transition. Nice thought though.
