Pilgrim (Free verse) by richa
If a snake tried to stand up on the tip of its tail, its task would be less than the pilgrim’s contending with his crust as the bread stales. To feast and then face a long stretch with no food is bad for the soul, and bad for the arms that lift the spade and divide the mud. But there is heaven and metaphor the loaves. The virgins for moslems and tall golden canes for the snakes who walk like men.

Up the ladder: The Secret
Down the ladder: HAHAA(LAUGHING)

Snake heaven may have tall golden canes, but virgins for the Pilgrim Puritans? And that last verse with its semicolon and new sentence midway, well, look at the grammar.

Virgins for the puritans came from the idea that your time on earth is toil to contrast with heaven. In effect your reward in heaven is the opposite of your discipline on earth.

I am not entirely happy with the third verse, but I thought the first two came off rather well.
