college (Free verse) by i_am_the_popsicle
all of your books about college are sprawled out all over your bed lost in a sea of fleece blanket and bright yellow post it visions of granduer fill your head based on a few choice statistics and a number of strategically place photographs your imagination is a glossy pamphlet where the teacheres are second to none save plato and socrates genius with spirit is all that one needs to get by and you ask me when you come down to dinnr if Harvard is really that hard to get into you never have lived in the real world have you no wonder you didnt get better than a C+ on yesterday's math quiz no wonder you spend your nights dreaming, instead of studying like crazy like all of the others

I also like the students who whine about needing to walk all the way from a hall at the bottom of the hill to one at the top and doubtless wonder every morning on the bathroom scale why they weigh 200 pounds more than I do even though they're a foot shorter.

As a poeme, it's utterly terrible, of course, but I do like the sentiment.
