Scapegoat (Free verse) by Dovina
In Christmas giving, I need escape, if the gift’s of any consequence, from praise piled on for what it isn’t from little folks missing what it is. I need someone to handle praise, to take it in my place, a jolly soul who drops a gift, then dodges off to other little folks, who, when the pressure’s on, can simply pop up the chimney and avoid the worst of it.

Up the ladder: Keeper of Faces
Down the ladder: Night song of Pattaya

I like it Dovina. I'll be spending my Christmas at the hospital. You have a Merry Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas to you and your father. May he recover and be relieved of the epilepsy that has plagued him.
