Cutting The Ropes (Free verse) by darylchew
Mirrors everywhere, reflecting the light. I see my reflection in all of them - the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Confused, I try to seek for the real me. I see that in you. You with the open heart, the nurse who cares and loves. yet with a swift cut. you break down the barrier built by hate. And for once I'm free. Seemingly opposite feelings I feel for you. You tie me down like a rock. I am the beautiful kite who doesn't fly, bound by sad ropes to a rock. Now, if I told you, would you let me go? No, no way, hold on to me saying "I want you" I understand your needs, I felt them before, but the clouds in the blue sky beckon to me - I need to soar. Still bound by ropes, I cannot leave. Crying my tears of hate, this false front breaks down. Then suddenly, surprisingly, the sad ropes snap. A warm thermal current picks me up, and I fly, to the heavens above. To where I want to be. The rock smiles, showing it's jagged teeth. I love you.

I see the real me in you - paraphrased, and perhaps the best definition of love. The ropes do not seem to follow from the opening as if a step is missing.

"the nurse who cares and loves.
yet with a swift cut."

"The rock smiles, showing it's jagged teeth."

If you love something, let it go. If it returns, it's yours. If not, it never was.
