A Mid-Saturday in June (Free verse) by Spindle
The sun peeks through the leaves like a cheater in a game of hide-and-go-
seek.
The leaves sway in a gentle breeze, neither struggling away from nor
clinging to their branches.
The branches stretch out like the limbs of a dog basking in the sun.
On the strongest branch two rusted chains rock back and forth, back and
forth.
A wooden bench is floating a foot and a half off the ground, carrying a
girl not yet 19.
She's writing in a book with only the glimpses of sun to light her life.
