I (Free verse) by D. $ Fontera
Flagging down taxies on a country road Every breath frozen by winter Every step farther from my destination Mangled fences wink at me With too many eyes Oh how naked I feel Beneath this plastic raincoat I have no fare but generosity is rewarding To some it is worth their time None tonight Have much to spare Right now All I have is desperation And sometimes that's enough To get by on The road is raw and The sky is glaring So why must I frost my cheeks with tears?

Up the ladder: Abused Light
Down the ladder: How Pepsi Killed JFK

Especially like, "All I have is desperation, and sometimes that's enough to get by on."
