Commandment One (Free verse) by TLRufener
You say you are the only God But you are no God to me. No one can run the world alone. That's what I believe. You say I'm not allowed To worship another besides you; But if I believe in something else What are you going to do? Will you strike me down To show your truth? Will you make a miracle So I'll believe in only you? What can yo do If love gives me no hope? What can you do If I think you're a big joke? When I turn my back To find my own way You can do nothing To get me to stay. My life is my own To live and control. But I believe what I want, Not what I have been told. The council of Gods That I believe in Is what I'll see the day I rise again. Teach what you want, Sheepheard your sheep, Because you're not the thing In which I believe.

Up the ladder: The Mountain
Down the ladder: A Metahaiku

Why do you feel this way

Sheepheard is, wrong.

The premise of writing to something one doesn't believe in gives me pause.

Though I did like that "Dear God" song a while back.
