When you taught me (Free verse) by donmiguel1960
When you taught me how to care To be concerned, with life’s trial and error Gasps of delight, now hastening throughout, The barrenness of my spirit, now flourishing about When you taught me gentleness, kindness, loving concern Never what was spoken, only conscious motions to discern Discovered qualities, pastures within, kindness I’d never known, Patients, understanding, unrealized heights, glories to which I’ve grown When you taught me who you saw, allowing me to be, the hero there From where I rest, I could see my love, eager to allot, with out a care Readily filled with desire, your needs grew to be my own Enjoying the very person I’ve become, with purpose no longer alone When you taught me the wonders of Love, boundless passions take wing Suddenly I live with the contentment of a dove, now my very soul can sing For the joy of life has become your gift, forever to treasure, honor and praise Dedicating my life to returning this love, flowing from my heart, ready to blaze When you taught me how to cry, broken hearted, crushed, destroyed Pouring sorrow as though I had die, reaching for emptiness, lost and void Awareness that the breathtaking qualities of life, I could never earn One lesson of grief, that without you in my life, I’ve had to forever learn

Up the ladder: Mississippi Seething.
Down the ladder: Ivory, slaves and gold
