Summer Rain (Free verse) by DJCARTER

Shadows seem to cover the memories that I once enjoyed in my life Underneath the clouds; I try to piece together my confused and distorted Mind. If I could pause time and reflect a little longer on the one true Meaning of my life, I might understand better. There's no time though, because my Existence here has come to an end. I'm waiting for my life to flash before my eyes. Rarely do I pity myself, but I can't help but feel inexistent to the world. Realism is finally staring me in the face, and who am I to oppose my fate After all, I've been without family for ages and have never mourned I seem to forget that I'm dying, without ever really knowing why I lived No one is here to remind me how my life was when I meant something

If you could pause time... You wouldn't bother to even worry about feeling sorry for yourself anymore. They'd give a commercial, a comic book, a shoe in your image, and then you'd feel like the rest of them, listless and trite. And also, meant something to what? The kids at school? Your dog? Your parents? The world? Please, you're going to make me wheep sheep, big fluffy mutton falling from my baby boy eyes. Those that wait for change, never do. Grab life by the horns not the donuts.
