Untitled Sonnet #1 (Other) by Antwon
O wondrous lass, of whom I am so fond,
Shall our acquaintance meet romantic end?
Electric spark: the crisp emotion bond?
Shall I ever to you be more than friend?
Your sunbeam smile sets my heart alight;
It's effortless, the way you heart-string me.
My courage wanes, or else I'd call tonight
Requesting partnership eternally.
Devoted, true: I'd never look askance,
At cheap and tawdry, hedonistic fun.
But I cannot pawn friendship for romance?
In my attempt for more, end up with none.
Of my desires deep I dare not tell
Though love's a flame one cannot ever quell.
