Amputee (Free verse) by INTRANSIT

My two best friends met some ladies. I was happy for them. A few years later I noticed my index and second finger were missing. A warehouse co-worker and I had gotten close during our work history. Then his mother died and left him an inheritance. Suddenly, my thumb was gone. I got to know a gal, smart, funny, a loving people person. She shot herself. I have found myself staying at home more. I keep my hands in my pockets. That way you can't tell which one is missing. But then, Who really gives a rats' ass.

keen-edged hurt, here.

did you know that these regrow? they will look and feel different--maybe a different color or shape--they will have different sensitivities. but they will serve you well, as you will them. it's not over. step into the current. get washed away in the whitewater. it's the only way to fly.
