9/11/01 (Free verse) by Jarah

Planes are crashing, Buildings they?re smashing. Bombs are blowing, And innocent blood is flowing. Horrendous attacks on one fateful day, Swept the nation off it?s feet, And took our breath away. The heroic passengers on one ill-fated flight, That sacrificed their lives to save countless others Must of put up a powerful fight. Brave men and women risk their lives, But our hope starts to fade, We pray for a miracle; to find them alive. The Government is calling, And taking men away, It doesn?t really matter whom As long as they?re of age. Stars and Stripes wave sadly at half-mast, As we mourn the thousands of Americans, Who were injured or lost this September past. As the Star Spangled Banner plays, Tears are shed as we remember the old days. Americans stand united Like we haven?t seen in years. Candles are lit; Memorial services are held, A renewed patriotism, That will bring you to tears. And while I write this poem, People are crying alone at home. Wondering if they?ll ever see, Their loved ones again. Everyone is praying, And over again they?re saying, Please God, just let this all end, We don?t want to see it happen again. And now we?re wondering; Could this be the beginning of the end?
