How Dare You Knock? (Free verse) by antoniojl

How dare you knock, Like that, While I'm trying to build this wall? When I'm trying to bleed out mourn, To wind myself back to quiet grief, To think alone, How dare you knock? How dare you, When I only want to sleep, Appear here, And relight fear while I heal? When this hope-spark reignites the night- How dare you knock again? And how dare you, When you know how I think, And all your knocking brings To this bleak window. When all these elegies, All this dirge can sing, This requiem's sad whisperings, And drowned optimism can bring, Is more misery, How dare you knock? How dare you? And now you've knocked; How dare you leave?
