Mystery on the Bridge (Free verse) by vulcan

When in the fireplace the Composite Capital is all ablaze I think of her who now in my Fancy dwells. The calmness of this night suits these vigilant eyes Though in the niche nobody stands nobody smiles. For the knock of door, for that bright moment I wait But to the very morn Darkness is elate. Perhaps I find her still brooding over the brook But no by now the lusty Waves have raped her lovely look. What I told her I remember still word by word "For a touch of those sequestered lips I give up all the world. She did not move after I said this But to my fainted faculties spelled a hiss; Since then O longing hearts of men I think of you Who all must have lost something dear somewhere on the bridge.

This is very tender and I like the rhetorical flourish of the last couplet.
