Taffy (Free verse) by knickytoy

We would begin with wishes. Bubbling up, as in boiling sugar; The hot, glossy bubbles of an unformed sweet, beautiful, but looking nothing like salt water taffy, Are pulled, broken, stretched and dulled, So dull they become reality And no one is really happy.

Taffy, often called salt water taffy though lord knows why, is a very chewy, soft, pastel hued candy made of sugar. It has a consistancy similar to gum but it dissolves eventually. It can pull the fillings out of your teeth.
