Spellbound (Free verse) by Limness
Affected by the molten glow
Cast by the sun as it rose
I stare at the improbable snow
As it floats and coaxes me
From the pensione
I gatti, the cats, eye me green
And when I leave the sheltered eaves
Follow, howling, down the street
A parade of tails and chirruped wails
Entreating me
Mi amore, he awaits
Anticipates
Across the bridge
And I am late
But the colors here
The shimmering air
Here in the square
I stop and stare
Forget to care
About my date
Feeling pulled and chased and needed
I stop and sigh with naught completed
Feel the earth beneath my feet
The cobbles here, this ancient street
Beat with me as I take a pause
Recall an old forgotten song
And see the reason I belong
Yet, still one lovely has pursued me
A feline escort, rumbling smoothly
Weaving pleased between my feet
Leaning all his weight on me
Tempting me beseechingly
Speaking pleasure without words
Of present, presence undisturbed
By contracts, houses, vows and things
My hand, this morning, without rings
Without the conflicts two will bring
Afloat and free, this hour sees me
The petals drifting from the trees
Softly brush my brightened cheek
Like fingertips, no words to speak
Wake me from my dreaming here
And I hear laughter, I hear prayer,
I hear songs sung in the air
And so I start back towards the chapel
Straighten this dress,
Smile at the dappled
Sunlight painting change on me
Color me into this portrait of life
I shall be simple, an honest wife
Gold will tell others the words we have said
Promise me, promise me, and come to my bed
This is our beginning, this is our start
In sunshine, in springtime, and joyous of heart
