Ladybirds and Monsters (Free verse) by Caducus

When I was a child scabs were fun wounds parents were pain wounds, when I was a child coughs brought cloves and cloves brought 'guardians' with dead dreamers books of wolves and damsels tucked in warm linen. When I was a child life was a still as Ladybirds on lifelines yet when they opened their wings a monster stole their spots and I wiped my fear on the mud I know it now as adulthood. When I was a child the moon wasn’t blind to me I saw Robins at Christmas wore hugs like parkers the rain like Calvin Klein’s and the world was a snow globe covered in my fingerprints.

I don't understand this poem, but I like it. It has a uniqueness and a lyrical quality that makes it stand out from the crowd.

Good work!
