Ode to the Sun (Free verse) by TLRufener

As I sit here on the cold hard rocks, I wait for your arrival. Hours ago we parted ways, Your warmth vanished with the rising of the moon. I have missed your light, The flowers you grow are waiting for you. Their wilted heads are at rest, Until you rise to wake them. Each blade of grass, Damp until you dry the dew. The entire world is asleep, At your command they will rise. Every street will wake, Stirring from its slumber. Once your light fills the sky, People will once again live. All eyes shall be opened, And each spirit will lift; They will carry on As the day before; Just as you Rise once more. Another day Has begun; With your action: The rising of the sun.

work on it and tighten it up a bit and this isn't too bad. As it stands - 7.
