Woman on the Stairs (Free verse) by James Rykelangeli

Under a chandelier of stars Winds the stairway of the sky Where the marmoreal moon Takes her soundless steps. The newel is The nightingale’s song. The steps’ stone is Black star sapphires. Her silver gown Caresses the stairs. Her silver eyes Give the night their shine. She is always adjusting The faceted sea, Her imperfect mirror, Tilting it out and in Upon the shore, Flattering her Eternally. With her ascent Awaits her groom Behind the door of aurora With its many hues And a lark’s song for a handle.

Rich with language. Although it evokes grand visions of the night, I look for meaning and shall perhaps look again.
