Two Basic Forces (Free verse) by dougsoderstrom

Two basic forces tend to mold man’s character. The evolutionary force drives man with one, and only one, thing in mind……… to protect his own life with little or no regard for anyone or anything else. Contrarily, the spiritual force moves man to consider the needs of others with little or no regard for his own welfare. However, due to society’s overwhelming capacity to meld man into itself, to make of man nothing more than a rather simple extension of its own ignobility, man’s potential for spiritual excellence becomes subverted into something far less gracious; it becomes transformed into a collective force for evil.

Dear Dark Angel:
I agree with you as you do have a very good point. However, as you can see, I did make provision for your well-made point in that man, having been "melded into society/socialized/brain-washed" is, I feel, moved, by the evolutionary force, to cooperate with those within "his own family" (his national group) in order to defend himself/his group of fellows by killing the enemy.......... in order to survive.

Love,
Doug
