Once Sought (Free verse) by necroscope7

Once sought I the source of joy Scouring hill, valley, and dale But the joy I found at the end of my search Was old and used and stale Once sought I the source of love Where'er it might like to hide But when I found it amongst the woodlands It seemed that love had died Once sought I the source of life Struggling, straining to reach But when I reached the summit of life All there was was a rotten peach Once sought me joy, love, and life To give me the gifts that each could But I was searching the wrong place for each And did not perceive them where I should

the ending seems a little clumsy to me, esp. 'the wrong place for each'. i get the sense that these things you sought were all about, yet you focused on where you wanted to find them, unwilling to see them beside you. yes?
