Alright let me explain this nicer than Dreamer did. While I might some what agree that cliche teenage poets are given a hard time, I think that this site handles it well. There are wolves in the world and there are sheep(and every now and then a bunny convincing everybody else he is a wolf). The sic and weak sheep(in this case young would be poets) and will be eaten, by the wolves(this case the "Gods of poetry"). This teachs the sheep to be stronger. The weak wolves will be taken care of by there own or even possibly by an angry sheep or two, but for the most part Young writers are being taught a lesson here that is taught in the real world. THAT EITHER THEY SUCK IT UP AND DO BETTER OR THEY DIE. How they are taught this lesson may vary, but its pretty much the same. I am 19 years old. I started off, an ignorant, young visionary. I wrote about emotions and feelings and my pain the same way every teen does(I'd like to think I was better than most but more than likely not). Now I'm one of the better writer's on this site in my own eyes(Then again I am very arrogant but at Least I'm honest about it). The writers of some of the harsher comments are expressing how they feel about the poems they read. If its Cliche or very Angst driven then they call it shit because they think its shit. If its good, but rubs them the wrong way, they will let you know about it. They tell you how they felt about it. They aren't trying to fit you into a mold, saying you have to do things this way, or you can't do things that way. They are saying that to them your writing sucks. You can develop as an artist any way you want. Look at the best list and see the many different styles used in writing them. Now then also look at the worst list. There is no one way to write poetry or paint a picture, but if every one else is painting a sailboat, then who the fuck wants to look at the quality of a painting of a sailboat? As for the buttfucking a child thing.. Well some of us are just weird and presume others have our same sense of humor. Its plain to see they don't. Doesn't mean that we're not going to tell the joke anyway. So I'll continue to be an artist, and will ask you not to think of art as something to be ewwed and ahhed over, but like books, or movies, or even video games. Some rock your socks off, some are just okay, some find a whole new suck big hairy orge balls, and others are just so cheesy that you either can't stand to watch them or you laugh your ass off.
