I suggest that new poemranker users should be unable to post in any of the new categories (cinquain, prose_poetry, translation, etc.) until they have "unlocked" them by reaching certain milestones, such as:
1. voting or commenting on 100 poems
2. being members longer than 2 months
3. maintaining an average of, say, 5.8 or higher for a set time
4. or something else which I can't think of now, like maintaining a low GAYNESS QUOTIENT or posting a long well-received poem on a topic of our choosing.
This could have the double advantage of giving new users some incentive to not post their awful "lyrics" and logout without participating AND keeping poemranker from being overwhelmed with horrifying metaparademimetahaikus or whatever, since users couldn't have access to them until they've proved their maturity.
Of course, they could merely post their Babelpoems or Equidistant_letter_hidden_acrostics as free_verse anyway, but I suspect they'll be excited about unlocking the secret poemranker levels because that's what people like to do: unlock things. Don't ask me why.
