both rather cute ideas. :) mildly difficult to implement given the current backend. but. definitely something to consider.
another cute idea, or two --
some binary coded images, or maybe just symbols, next to a user's name -- for how long they've stuck around, how many poems they currently have posted, how many comments they've made, how many poems they've voted on, ... hmm. or not. that could be ugly in the db. currently working on a bounce-tracking system on another site. will see how clean it winds up being, perhaps implement it over here.
Lots of other sites have that sort of thing, "newbie user", "user", "veteran", "senior veteran", "really needs a life", "family must hate this person" - that kindof thing.
When you say "lots of other sites" do you mostly mean the allpoetry.com family?
Basically any site that uses a message board. Does allpoetry.com etc. use something like that?
I think generally the phpbb family and its ilk.
