Broken Love (Free verse) by Cougarchic
Blonde hair, blue eyes, the perfect male specimen
A black-belt in karate
I should have known better
I should have known better with the temper you had
I didn't know
I thought it was love
What a sick joke that was
You said you loved me
And like a fool I believed you
You promised me the world
You didn't deliver
You destroyed my world
The fight was simple
The day before you had broken my hand
You didn't believe me
I needed a break so I started to pack
I told you I needed time
You said it wasn't going to be that easy
I bent down to pack my clothes
A flash of color
A sharp sudden pain in my mouth
I spit blood
You sat me down and said we weren't finished yet
You said we needed to talk some more
You turn to fix the stereo
I see my chance to run
I hop off the bed and sprint to the door
I get in my car and drive to the hospital
As I lie on my back getting my jaw wired shut
I wonder was it worth it
You broke my jaw, my heart, and my trust
Now at least for the next six weeks
I have a constant reminder of the pain love can cause
