Poetry is Pointless (Free verse) by somemorepoetry
When you can't think of any way to say it Write it down on a piece of paper and Post it on the internet So everyone can see Your little secrets flailing in the wind As they cling to the strings Tied to your head Snip them off They'll fly away For someone else to gather up and read There's no use pretending They never existed They are marked They are dirty With the fingerprints of your thoughts There are never mistakes Just regrets That someone out there Now knows you have some psychological condition Requiring you to tell via a pen name or lie Everything you promised to keep with you until the day you died We all better die then All us poets and singers We have traitorous mouths and deceitful fingers Forget about the life you need to lead Go write something down Go pretend to say something that will someday actually matter Say something sweet So when they bury you they'll have something To carve on the headstone and place in the dirt Knowing you wrote it the one time you were not hurt Say something cruel Something profound We all know we all are geniuses Every single one of us will be the next great voice The next great speaker For the new generation And if no one else happens to notice At least we will Here in this market where we all act important together
