Elephant (Other) by amielou82
Elephant, elephant, stomping hard Elephant, elephant, in my back yard Gone is my fragrant flower And my beautiful plant While inside we hide and cower Away from this destructive elephant The birds, bees and butterflies all flee As the elephant reaches up with its long trunk While shaking the leafy greens on our tall tree Down falls a branch that he broke, crash, bang, Ker-plunk Romping and stomping through the grass So big and strong but not so fast I wonder where it’s journey begun And why it chose my home as its place to run Badly wanting to be protected and someone whom it can trust Someone who wont laugh at it’s floppy ears and cut off the long ivory tusks Hunted for jewellery and to pleasure pouches at there game This elephant now has a treasure that shall never be claimed Elephant, oh elephant Your huge brown body must be moved You must return to Africa or at least into a zoo I’ll try to make you happy and try to keep you safe But here in my backyard it is not the right place I don’t believe in locking you up into a cage or pen Just so we can view the smiles on our tiny little children I’ll do my very best to find you a suitable home A place where you can enjoy yourself and freely roam I’ll begin to send the world a message to always remember Please think for a minute about all those living things that have to suffer So be careful when out shopping at those department stores and malls When your buying jewellery or shoes or even a simple belt buckle for pants Remember its hurts the world when we kill and steal from these animals And that the ivory you want comes from these big beautiful elephants.
