I, The Lord (Free verse) by ilovecars131
Speak not of great battles to me, for I, The lord, protector of the people, have seen Many a war which was gruesome and blood drenched, Last for lifetimes, or so it seemed. And I, the lord, have participated in such Events as these, tortured by demons, And wretched souls from the fiery depths. Many a war have I also conquered And seized the day for my people, those whom I protect. Now, defeated contestants I have Faced and humiliated, they bow to my presence And fear every minute, each day, hoping that Never shall they find themselves in the clutches Of my deathly grip so that they may Live one more day. But one day I, Lord, protector of the people, shall lose My might and all power I embrace shall fade, Whither away to a nothingness, leaving me Helpless. This is why I must go in search Of another to take my place, another To carry the weight which has held me To the throne for so long. I will find a warrior Who is strong and wise so that I may relieve Myself of the title I hold now, the lord.
