Sleepless Nights (Free verse) by airmankeg
The flash of spontaneous euphoria disguised as something long-lasting tries its best to shroud the burning reminder that I have fallen from greatness. The cold eyes that stare at me in the mirror are laughing at me and my dreams. All I know is darkness even though false hopes continue to mislead me, leading me to dead ends of despair. My cries aren't heard, for they are drowned out by FATE's hideous laughter as I am prodded without mercy or pity.
