This Day (Free verse) by newdawnfades
On this day a victory has been won,
and we revel in the streets,
we hug countless strangers
and share all the things we have forgotten.
The people choke the streets like a river,
I have scarcely forgotten when I have felt more joy,
But this day is for everyone,
and I am so happy to be a part of it.
This is not the time to think, say, or act.
Today we will set sail
on a different ship.
The voyage was always up to us.
Just give the crowd this hour to speak,
You will not listen with your ears,
but through them.
You will see with instinct,
and you have scarcely time to touch,
for you will be felt,
by all those around you
who have loved and admired you
from the day of their births,
and when you are gone,
they will remember this day for you,
passed on by you
with all your prejudice and passion.
They will come to live this day
It will be as if it was their day,
and they will never forget
the victory which has been won,
this day.
