Ode to My Crack (Free verse) by J.B. Manning
My addiction sickens me
Take my flesh, but set me free
Strip away my dying bones
With my soul Iâll pay my loans
Give me peace and give me death
Only perverts get the jest
Thereâs little else for me to say
And little reason I should stay
But still Iâm here and so is he
Laughing, taunting, killing me
Like boiled needles stuck skin deep
You leave me feeling dry and weak
My giver of this dying trade
Never will my debts be paid
But Iâm strong with crystal will
Swinging from a window sill
Laughing like a lunatic
Fear and mourning makes me sick
Numb my heart and every nerve
To the master I must serve
Inward breath and breakfast straw
Burning nose and clenching jaw
Torn from birth as if aborted
Tries a smile but itâs contorted
Twisted distance links my mind
To an endless written line
That brings me to a sudden end
But still I live and hope to mend
The heart inside that once beat true
Until the day that I met you
My bitter bitch my queen so damned
This is not what I had planned
But when youâve been awake for 3 straight
Your vision begins to shake
and even your bones begin to ache
The shadows tell secrets of emaculate conception
Youâre moving so fast that time warps perception
And a tweakers connection is one from the soul
Or so it seems
Like all the illusions youâve come to believe
And the magic in the air you think you can see
But borrowed time brings sorrowed times
And seizers of the mind
Dilute the tell tale signs
That everything is breaking
Your life is slowly taking
One last journey
Toward the very bitter end
and I am NOT alone!
