White Veil (Free verse) by J.B. Manning
Iâm trying so hard to see through this
White reality
Trying to find out who
Wrote our history
Iâm wondering whoâs adding the
Addictive quality
To my coffee
Trying to unveil
The truth they hide from me
An Ebony Queen walks up to me
And says so precise
and beautifully
To find the truth
You must follow me
I promise nothing else
But to set you free
And leave before you
The world to see
There is but one and only key
To accept in life
All diversity
Have faith in God
Not democracy
Voice is the killer
Of secrecy
And if you wish
To honor me
Then speak the word
That man shall be
One day united
And TOTALLY free
From all the evils
that separate me
From the world where
We all should be
Peace, Truth, Diversity,
and Unity
Now
You
See!
(Though it's not usually important, I think it must be said here, since
it changes the definition of the poem, that I am white)
