Stonehenge (Free verse) by longships
Majestic stones shrouded in mystery, Adorn the open plain. Their silence unbroken through millennia, Their history swathed in darkness and light. A place where many have prayed in ancient rites, A place, where many have learnt, And where many have died. A place of power and forgiveness. Many perceive truth amid these amid these guardians, Truth enriched with tale and legend. Entranced by undiscovered truths, A truth to achieve self-awareness. The sun plies itself above the heel stone, A shaft of light penetrates open archways. Delivering life for the few, Who still respect and abide by the old ways. I call for sanctuary among them, I call upon the spirits to guide. And offer their protection, Upon my journey toward wisdom. Many seasons have fallen upon the stones, Many tales untold, are known by them. Their secrets will remain forever concealed, We mortals can only surmise.
