Obscene, or is it? (Free verse) by Jimbo
January 12, 2003 ~ Obscene, or is it? ~ I spoke to you In words that only brothers share You are the reward Not the criminal You are the warrior Looking for the harbor With the safe haven All that remains is earthy paradise ~ I hesitate at times to speak My brother knows me perhaps too well Obscene isn’t it? We’ve experience a secret suffering A privation that made for an emptiness I find myself asking questions Which I had previously avoided Still I find myself committed to my feelings ~ We’ve piled our misfortunes For others such a fine indifference We’ve spoken of friendship With no expectations Sometimes laughter is restored by silence But the pain is living forever within . . . conversation is not an obligation It is a jungle without past or future Without promise Without penalty Caring is not an obscenity . . . brother love always ~ Thom
