Drifting Dunes (Free verse) by Jimbo
June 12, 2002
~
Drifting Dunes
~
Warm summer breezes
Remind me of yesterdays love
Like the weather itâs changed
Suddenly there are wind shifting sands
The sight of my world is cloudy
Soft billowing winds
Forever changing face
Moving towards oasis
That no longer exist
~
Tiny particles picked up by wind
Constantly moving
Drifting farther inland
Stormy weather in blazing radiation of sun
I do with all the days and all the hours
What ever else was lost
Among the years
Dunes drifting
Constantly shifting
~
Rain is soft and sprouts growth
And also washes soft silt
Creating more mountains to climb
As summer breeze blows gently
But remember
What ever I said I still love you
Footsteps disappear in struggling steps
I find it so hard to walk on soft earth
Dunes also soak up the sweat
. . . and tears before they can evaporate
~
Sometimes I feel hurried or dismayed
I may pause and think sadly
Speaking gently
Sometimes wondering to whom I speak
The dunes are ageless in time
But never stand still
Like a friendship that withstands destiny and fate
Tomorrow will bring a cooler day
Winds will slow but summer will still swelter
~
Can the heat be withstood?
