Content with Sadness (Free verse) by Blindproject217
It seems an oddity that they cannot see what I do, that they do not even want to. They are so happy to be unhappy for the rest of time searching for what they have already rejected. And as time goes on and you look at me and sneer your soul hurts more than the day before. You want the easy way out but your taking the rough road to find it. And now you stand at my feet and beg to tell you what I already have. How long will you run from truth, how long will you refuse absolutes? Just look at it, does not your heart long for it? The way it shines when all else goes dark, the way it warms when winters breeze lingers in your soul. Can you see past the nothingness of this world and look past the treasure that all else seek and be content with this. It waits for you to embrace it, but as I look in your eyes I know that you will not. You see what it will cost, you can see the burden and trials that the rest battle with. And that does not appeal to your searching heart. You seek a way to live forever and be with all that you think matters. Little do you know that this burden that I lock inside me is what keeps me alive, it is what keeps me awake in the day and warm at night. If I was empty I would have long ago left this meaningless world, for I have long since discovered the vanity and fakeness of this place. This keeps me steady and unmoving, this is why I will not meet in the middle. Two sides are drawn, it is for you to decide which will fill that pit in your soul, the hole that sent you on this journey in the first place.
