Distant Memories (Lyric) by marvelis
I stay here with my bottle of whisky,
Wishing I had a good girl to miss me.
Often I stay up at night watching the curtains sway
And wonder how it could have ever gone down this way.
An ancient past, seems like yesterday,
That has grown fully extinct today.
On these hollowed and cold nights,
Against my walls flash car lights;
Constant reminders of an angel,
One that I would often cradle.
Back then our fights were little flirtings,
Our souls never experienced any hurtings.
From our five-star hotel,
To that off-road motel.
Did I tell you I went back there?
It was run down but still fair.
Opening our room door, I went back in time
And saw what I can describe only as divine.
Inside, I saw you and me;
The fates letting us be.
You had your signature smile.
I knew I could not be in denial.
But now those harmonies
Are just distant memories.
Today I opened an old drawer.
I found a picture of you there.
It was hidden deep inside.
A letter from you it lay beside.
The picture was black and white
But still looked beautiful and right.
I picked up the letter and read,
"Hey there lover, I miss you.
hope you haven't been bad.
I hope to soon again kiss you."
Now in a chair I do stay,
Watching the curtains sway.
I unconciously wonder why.
How did we ever wind up this way?
With you I still want to spend my days.
I swear, I can still change my ways.
Almost empty now is my bottle of whisky.
But I still hope there is a girl to miss me.
