Ghost Girl (Free verse) by wordontheverge
Lie through teeth
Challenge old rules
To make new
Walls transparent
Disappear
Like sea against sky
I
Am
Living an apology
Think good thoughts before sleep
Hours are made up
Pretended
But ours are real
Mirrors of each other
Ghetto out of control
Justify loss of the unrequited
Plan
Instead
A
Capture
Broken ritual
In need of pedicure
And
Honesty
Buy new cars for validity
Feel instead like cleaning lady
Wrapped in expensive rags
Books stacked along classroom barriers
Held without question
Reduced
to
Ingestion
Of
Preaching
Ninety dollar textbook bible
Some may not make it
Fall through cracks
Made bigger
Wider
Divide
Libras are diplomatic
Never finish what is started
Don?t put faith in chance
We could lose
Drift from clouds to bus benches
Stench of piss
And ink
Left many behind to rot
In poems of indulgence
Words are fatal
When unsaid
Can be hazardous
Material
Food killed my grandmother
Everything causes cancer
More bedrooms
The answer
escape
Strive,
Strive
Is a funny word
In a funny world trying
To break out
Of this marathon
Judge them if they fail
Get high
Go to jail
Support options are embarrassing
Like
Pity
Look at me when I am speaking
These may be the last true words
I say
This
Planet
Is
Eroding
Super k-mart is closing
Headlines
Science fiction
May change
Teach college Mexicans the range of experience
Is not how we got here
But what we do
Pass
Through peoples lives
I exist
an apparition
No
Skin
Or bones
Or color
Or clones
Or empty warheads
Code orange
Heighten
alert
Dial
9-1-1
Disasters are taking place
Take me too
Before my voice fades away
When words are not visions
So Close I taste
The smoke of their departure
